Blog Award

I received a "I love your blog! Happy Autumn!" award from Dawn Marie today. She is so sweet and is great at leaving comments! Please visit her blog, Dawn's Special Creations, today... and don't miss the scrapbook challenge posted on Thursday... It's awesome!

I'm passing along the awards to more people. You won't want to miss their blogs either! I changed the look of the award slightly by choosing a different autumn theme. Please feel free to pick your own autumn theme here.

October 24 - Think Pink

On this card, I was trying to make faux brads. I used a heart stamp from Small Sayings in place of the brads.

Stamps: Live Your Dream, Small Sayings
Paper: regal rose, pretty in pink & DSP, white
Ink: regal rose, pretty in pink, craft white, certainly celery
Accessories: markers, taffeta ribbon, ticket corner punch

BOO 7

My hubby bought Halloween hats/costumes for the cats today. They are soooo cute! I had to try them on right away and take pics. Of course, they are not so thrilled. LOL! I'm hoping to get those pics posted on Halloween night.

Anyway, that reminded me that it was about time to post some new BOO cards! You can find other BOO cards here.

Stamps: Haunting Halloween, Alphabet Appeal numbers
Paper: black, only orange, white
Ink: black
Accessories: markers, WW crayons, ribbon, circle punches

This card measures 4.25 square. I use 4.5 A muse envelopes.

This simple card is a favorite of mine. They look like Halloween lollipops rather than flowers. :)

Stamps: Batty for You, In the Spotlight
Colors: white, black, old olive, pumpkin pie
Accessories: ribbon, scallop & circle punches

BLOG CANDY WINNERS

I have the first winner... Stampandweave! Please PM Miss Boo with your snail mail addy!

I'm looking for one more. Read my clue in the comments. (wink)

Thanks to everyone for particicpating. I'm loving all of the answers. There are more purposes for this card than I thought.

I have a second and final winner.... Misti! Please PM Miss Boo with your snail mail addy!

Again, thank you for playing. It's been a very fun day and your answers were wonderful!!!!!!!!

Stanpandweave's answer:

Feeling like a bug under a magnifying glass while doctors figure out your diagnosis?

Miss Boo says: This card can be used to say to a person going through the same thing and that you understand and you're there for support.

Misti's answer:

When I saw this, I thought, "I've got your back!" I can see me giving this to my adhd son, when other people don't understand him, Mom does!

Miss Boo says: Exactly, as a mom of a special needs child, I see how he is misunderstood. When he comes home, it's a safe place. It can also be the same for the parent.... I've actually had doctor's say to me.... get over it... and... your lifestyle isn't helping him.

October 19 - The Happy Side

This date is a significant one for me. It represents the gift of life. My first son was a micro preemie and spent 15 weeks in NICU. He finally came home on Oct. 19, 1995, weighing just 3 pounds 12.5 ounces. We celebrate every year. We call it his Homecoming Day! We are so blessed to have him in our lives.

My son LOVES robots. He politely says he likes all of my cards when he sees them, but this one was "cool"! He's so cute!

Stamps: Rocket man - Technique Tuesday, Family Phrases - SU
Paper: pacific blue, certainly celery, basic black, white
Ink: black
Accessories: Copic & SU markers, circle punches, paper piercer & mat stack

October 19 - The Sad Side

This card was made in memory of my second son who died during delivery on October 19, 2000. I made it a couple of years ago, hoping I would never have to use it. I did end up using it when a student of mine passed away. I'm so glad I had it on hand, because I wasn't in the crafty mood at the time.

Many of us have known someone who has had a miscarriage. Some of you may have known someone who has had a stillborn baby, a baby die as an infant, or a young child die either tragically or from an awful disease. In all of these situations, we need to proceed carefully.

What do you put inside a sympathy card for the loss of a baby or child? You can always use a search engine to find a verse or poem. There are lots of good ones. Don't ever say you understand.... unless you do. You can very appropriately say, "Just want you to know I care". When offering to help, be specific. Offer to go grocery shopping, help with older children's homework or car pooling. Maybe make a meal or do some laundry. Think concretely.

When do you send cards? At the time of death is just the obvious. But don't forget these times: at the anniversary of the death, the first Christmas or significant holiday, the child's birthday or due date for a miscarriage or premature birth.

{{Hugs}},

Miss Boo
