Tickled Pink over Pink Birdhouses

SCS Inspiration Challenge: The Curiosity Shoppe

I was inspired by all the pink birdhouses found here.

I just recently added this stamp to my collection but hadn't colored the image I stamped, yet. As soon as I opened the Curiosity Shoppe, I instantly saw the birdhouses. Wow! They are so cute! Expensive. But cute! Gosh, I was going to color is a drab brown. I like the pink better!

Stamps: birdhouse (Great Impressions), sentiment (SU's retired Tickled Pink)
Paper: white, rose red, regal rose, regal rose dsp
Ink: black, SU markers: rose red & regal rose, Copic markers (R85 rose red, R83 rose mist, Y38 Honey, YR04 chrome orange, Y08 acid yellow, Y000 pale lemon (for shading), C-1 cool gray

Have a honey of a day!

SCS Limited Supply Challenge: Your challenge this week is to make a card in a summer activity theme. Use any embellishments you want. Extra bonus fun points if you use a tag on your card.

Bees are so cute on paper, but I will NOT be sad to see them leave IRL! Also IRL, the ribbon is lighter and the honey pots are a tidge darker.

Stamps: Just Buzzin' By & Aida Cloth BG (SU), bee (DRS Designs)
Paper: white, so saffron, barely banana
Ink: black, SU markers: basic black & crushed curry, Copic markers: Y21 Buttercup Yellow, Y000 Pale Lemon (for the wings), black
Accessories: ribbon, eyelet (to place ribbon in), brad (inserted into eyelet also), paper piercer & mat stack template, Diamond Stickles, SU scallop edge punch, dimensionals

Modern Technology - A Love/Hate Relationship LOL!

*
*
*
Happy Friday... I think.
My laptop crashed last night and I'm on the unreliable dinosaur that still lives in our house. DH has been great. He's worked for hours and is now taking a well deserved break.

* If you are here looking for Hip Hop Hangover, I did manage to get that done before the disaster hit. It's in the next post. However, I'm unsure how quickly I'll get to every other hip hop blog posts. But I will! I just don't know how soon.

Have a great weekend!

Hip Hopping with Unity

Unity Hip Hop Challenge - Wing It

Make a card or project using Unity stamps that has something with wings.

I used an image with tiny butterflies.

Stamps: Nov08 & June09 KOM
Paper: white, cool Caribbean, Bermuda Bay, black, Thoroughly Modern dsp
Ink: black, Bermuda Bay, Copics: BG49 Duck Blue, BG23 Coral Sea, BG15 Aqua, BG10 Cool Shadow, C0 - Cool Gray
Accessories: ribbon, brads, SU scallop edge, large oval & modern label punches

Ways to Use it Challenge: Try using some variegated ribbon (you could make your own if you wish), variegated thread, yarn, paper etc.

I have just one color of variegated ribbon. Pink. So, I picked out some Unity flowers since it's Hip Hop day and I've been using Unity stamps for the challenges. I used so many pinks that I lost track of the ones I used. For shadowing, I used E0000 Floral White.

Stamps all Unity: Squatty Vase, sentiment from July KOM, decorative circles from the incentive Stylin' Stars set with July KOM.
Paper: white, chocolate chip, pretty in pink, rose red
Ink: Palette burnt umber, regal rose, SU chocolate chip marker, Copic markers (Lots of pinks & Floral white E0000 for shadowing)
Accessories: circle punch, ribbon, Nesties (Wish RAK), dimensionals

Unity Hip Hop Challenge: Not A Ribbon In Sight!

I LOVE ribbon! But since I was going without, I decided to make a card for a boy. These creatures really are cute in their ugly sort of way. LOL!

I was the lucky winner of this challenge by having my card randomly drawn. Woo hoo! I meant to get it on yesterday's garage sale and I was so busy I forgot. {sigh} The set I one was the hot air balloon set. I don't remember names very well anymore. Must be my age. LOL! Anyway, the real name of this set is Love in the Air. You can see it here.

Stamps: Cuter than Most (Unity)
Paper: white, black, wild wasabi
Ink: black, Copic markers: G24, B24R27, YR12, Y08, V17, C0, C1, C3
Accessories: Martha Stewart edge punch, brads, Scoor-Pal, dimensionals

It's that time again! CAS design team search!

*

It seems like summer just started! But here we are, facing the autumn season. I will miss Lisa, Ann, and Harriet. They were so great to work with.

The new CAS design team search will be different this time. Please read the directions. :)

Here's what's happening:

1. I will post 3 challenges: sketch, color, & theme.

2. You can do any or all of the challenges.

3. You can make as many cards as you like. Please post them with listed keywords... and in the thread on SCS just in case the gallery is being finicky.

4. You will have until Sunday, Aug 30 at 10PM ET to upload your cards.

5. You must be able to post challenge sample cards on Sunday nights between 10:00 - 11:00 PM ET. One week of absence due to an emergency or vacation is allowed. We can make special arrangements to have a former DT member make a sample card for the week.

6. Having experience posting threads is not mandatory, but it is helpful. We can teach you. :)

7. You should be a regular CAS player to participate. But don't get discouraged. There are many more seasons to come.

Inspiration Mosaic Blog Hop - 3 Cheers for Melanie!

I am sooo excited to have been invited to join the Inspiration Mosaic Blog Hop! I just love this set! It has so many possibilities. I hope that my cards will inspire you to think of unexpected stamps that can be used with this mosaic. At the bottom of this post, I will link previous cards I've made with this awesome set.

To see a close up of any of the photos, right click on the photo and open up a new tab or window.

This mosaic is so cool for hanging the spider webs from the Bug Me Anytime set. This card was so easy. At the last minute, I decided to add some ribbon. But it even looked great without it.

I paired the stamps with some very old patterned paper that has gone unused in my scrapbooks. It turned out so amazing! The jack-o-lanterns look like they're looking at the spiders. Yeah for old paper. LOL! If you have this set or plan on getting it (They're in stock again.), look through your patterned paper. You will probably be amazed at what will look great with the mosaic.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muenchinger/Gina K. Designs), Bug Me Anytime (Nina Brackett/Gina K. Designs)
Paper: white, black, unknown patterned paper
Ink: black
Accessories: circle punch, eyelets, ribbon, brads

While I was cruising through my old paper, I came across this water design. I have 2 sea creature sets from Gina K. Designs. I chose Best Fishes. I did a lot of cutting for this card, but it was well worth it! The gold fish and seahorse are popped up on dimensionals.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muechinger/Gina K. Designs), Best Fishes (Gina K. Designs)
Paper: white, apricot appeal, unknown patterned paper
Ink: black, Copic markers (YR16, Y38, Y35, Y21, G24)
Accessories: eyelets, brads, dimensionals, SU modern label punch

I was so excited when the Stamps for A Cause: Autism "Love You to Pieces" set came out. But I haven't used it in a very long time. I was looking through my Gina K. Designs stamp binder looking for something else to "speak to me". And it worked today! LOL! Aren't these puzzle pieces perfect for the mosaic?!?

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muenchinger/Gina K. Designs), Love You to Pieces (Gina K. Designs)
Paper: white, gable green
Ink: black, regal rose, pumpkin pie, ballet blue, Copic marker: YG11 - Mignonette
Accessories: ribbon, eyelet, brads, SU large oval & modern label punches

Warm & Fuzzy is such an adorable set! It was the hearts & swirl that grabbed my attention for use with the mosaic. I masked the square and stamped the swirl and then the bird. I stamped the bird again on scrap carsstock, colored, and paper pieced. I also paper pieced 3 sections with DCWV designer paper. It's from either the spring or summer mat stack. Then I colored 3 sections with Copic G24 Willow. It's such a great match with wild wasabi. The sentiment is from the set, Bug Me Anytime.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muenchinger/Gina K. Designs), Warm & Fuzzy (Asela/Gina K. Designs), sentiment from Bug Me Anytime (Nina Brackett/Gina K. Designs)
Paper: white, cool caribbean, wild wasabi
Ink: black, Copic markers: G24 Willow, BG01 Aqua Blue, B00 Frost Blue, RV13 Tender Pink, Y38 Honey, C-1 Cool Gray #1, E0000 Floral White
Accessories: brads, SU small oval & modern label punches

For even more inspiration, be sure to check out Melanie's blog.

Melanie also has several guest designers joining in on the hop tonight:

Jennie Harper, Tina Gilliland, Linda Payne, and Jenny Charboneau (me :)

These GinaK's Senior DT members have Inspiration Mosaic projects on their blogs as well: Cathy, Emily, Erika, Jessica, Lee, Gina K, Donna, and Theresa

Some Sneak Peeks of tonight's Blog Hop

Yes. I'm just a little excited to be a part of a blog hop. Here are a couple of sneak peeks to get you excited.

But these are just 2. I have more to share tonight! You don't want to miss it! Seriously!!!!

Picnic of Daisies

Sketch Challenge #241
I love the blue ribbon. I wish I had more of it. I found it in a $1 spot. Michael's I think. It came with 5 other patterns... 12 inches each. The sky is lightly sponged with soft sky ink. The ground was made by sprinkling dots with a creamy caramel marker and then sponging it with the same color.

SHADOWS: For the grass shadow, I used YG11 (Mignonette). For the shadow around everything else, I used B60 (pale blue gray). You notice it if you're looking for it (in real life). It's subtle... like light make-up. I find it very effective. These are both new colors for me. It's possible I'll find different colors I like better as I grow my collection even more. If you'd like to see a close of view, right click on the photo and open another tab or window.

Stamps: Picnic of Daisies (Stampavie/Sarah Kay)
Paper: white, real red, creamy caramel
Ink: black, creamy caramel, soft sky, Copic markers (B24, B32, B60, E31, E33, E35, E51, G24, R27, Y35, Y38)
Accessories: eyelets, ribbon, CB Swiss Dots, white gel pen, dimensionals
Wish RAK: Picnic of Daisies from Stamp Muse, CB Swiss Dots from many Wish RAKers.

As Another Year Flies By...

Today was my day to make the post on the DRS Designs blog. You can find all of these stamps on the DRS site found here.

I love it when stamps are versatile! Today I'm showing 3 very different cards using the sentiment "As another year flies by..." (F489)

For a close up view of any of the cards, right click on the photo and open up another tab or window.

When I first saw this sentiment, I immediately thought of birthdays. These candles crack me up because they look like they're flying. *~* So I just had to use this sentiment with them!

Other stamps: Birthday Candle Burst (L451)
Paper: ballet blue, real red, white
Ink: black, Copic markers
Accessories: Top Note die cut, eyelet, ribbons, brads

This 2nd card was made as a sample for the CAS challenge I hostess on Mondays: Show Off Your Bling
It was a very popular card! I was so excited!

This card can really be used for anything.
* Bee Day
* A let's catch up letter to an old friend
* A joke to a friend of family member who keeps putting off retirement
Let your imagination take a cruise!

Other Stamps: Bitsy Bee (A1020), Polka Dot Flower (F336)
Paper: white, black
Ink: black, Copic markers
Accessories: Stickles, pop-up dots, eyelet, ribbon, rhinestone

Two of the bees are popped up. Why? The same reason I do lots of things... to hide mistakes! *~*

This card was sooooo much fun! (You'll have to wait awhile to see my other plans for the witch's accessories... LOL!) I thought this verse fit well because it looks like she is done for the night (Halloween) and she's gone to bed. Only the cats and bats are out.

Other Stamps: Witch's Accessories (K154)
Paper: white, black
Ink: black, Copic markers
Accessories: Martha Stewart cat, bat, and drippy goo punches, pop-up dots (for the bats), gingham ribbon

It's the "Ultimate" Mosaic - News! Read all about it!

As you know, I have been so obsessed with Melanie's Inspiration Mosaic set! *~* Well, there is a special Blog Hop tomorrow evening just for The "Ultimate" Mosaic - That's how I think of it. LOL! And I'm so excited to be a part of it. (I guess my obsession had something to do with that, huh!?! LOL!) I was very surprised and very honored to have been invited for this special hop. Please join us at 10PM. You can start here, on Melanie's Blog, on Gina K's Blog, or on any of the design team blogs. You will love it! Warning: If you've already said that you are tempted, you'll be thrown over the edge. *~*

I'm not sure why I bother returning this set to the binder every time I use it. I love it and have already used it a lot. This card just has a base, dp, 2 stamps, bow & pearls. It was super quick! This was one of my samples for yesterday's SCS-CAS challenge.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muenchinger/Gina K. Designs)
Paper: white, SU Cottage Wall dsp
Ink: black, rich razzleberry
Accessories: taffeta ribbon, MS pearls

After using dp with the mosaic for my CAS27 card, I just had to go looking through more of my dp collection. Unfortunately, I don't know who made this autumn leaves dp.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic (Melanie Muenchinger/Gina K Designs)
Paper: very vanilla, creamy caramel, dp
Ink: Palette burnt umber
Accessories: organdy ribbon, wide oval punch, brads

If you like these cards and have missed any of my past mosaic cards, click here!

My First Diorama Card

Today on the DRS Designs blog, the biweekly challenge is make a diorama card. It was a temporary panic... my first challenge on the design team and I've never made a diorama card. Talk about pressure! LOL! But I read the tutorial found here on SCS. So, if you're thinking about skipping this challenge, it's not allowed! (just kidding) But really consider giving it a try. My DH was super impressed.

The tutorial is for a 3 inch high card. You can actually make it tall enough for the stamps/image you would like to use. These are the photos I took along the way... so I can come back and review them. *~* What I discovered was that even though I have a Scor-Pal, I need to be careful at scoring and taping the pieces together. The middle section is bowed.

The middle section was cut at 6.5 x 4 inches. It was scored at 1 inch from each short side. In this photo, you will see the middle piece is wild wasabi. I changed my mind during the process and in the rest of the photos you will see it as bashful blue. I cut the front and back pieces 8.5 x 4 inches. They were scored 2 inches from each short side. The front piece is wild wasabi and the back piece is bashful blue.

If you would like a larger view of any of the photos, right click on the photo and open another tab or window.

DRS Designs Stamps:
Flower Fence w/ Birdhouses (M626), Easy Grass Background (E059)
Ink: black, bashful blue, wild wasabi, certainly celery
Accessories: Scor-Pal, handmade cloud templates (made with scallop scissors), sponge, Copic markers

I used an Creative Memories blade to cut out the box (instead of using punches). I first drew lines on the back to guide me. I used red sticky tape to adhere the middle piece to the back one.

Here is an arial view of the back and front pieces adhered together.

At this point, I decorated the mid section. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch with pumpkin pie cardstock and the DRS Designs Flower Border stamp (H1076) colored with Copics. Sorry that I don't have the color numbers. By the time I was done, my table was a HUGE mess! And I really lost track of it all. LOL! But I think I'll be better organized the next time. *~*

After adhering the front piece, I finished the details. (Important advice you may need if you're like me and just fly into a project without planning it.... Stamp the grass BEFORE you adhere it to the rest of the card!) Can you see me shaking my head at myself? LOL!

DRS Stamps: Sheldon the Turtle (F720 ), Silhouette Believe Butterfly (D226 ) stamped in real red
Clouds: SU scallop circle punch with Liquid Applique
Leaves: EK Success leaf punch

That's it. My first diorama card. Hope to see some wonderful creations. Please link your diorama to the DRS blog. If you're uploading to another gallery, please use the keyword DSC27.

Charming Chariot

SCS Featured Stamper: SleepyinSeattle

I started off with the same theme using different stamps. But after that, I had so many mistakes to cover up that it looks quite a bit different from the original. But I'm glad that she inspired me to use this adorable stamp again that was given to me by Stamp Muse (Stella's Chariot/Stamping Bella). The sentiment is from a set that I found at the Novi stamp show a couple of weekends ago (Charming Kitty/The Rubber Stamp Cafe). It's actually a Halloween kitty mini set.

Here's Joanne's beautiful card.

Stamps: Stella's Chariot (Stamping Bella), Charming Kitty (The Rubber Cafe)
Paper: white, close to cocoa, SU dsp (One piece is folded over)
Ink: black, chocolate chip marker, Copic markers: YR16, YR12, E74, YG95, C-0, E51
Accessories: chocolate chip taffeta ribbon (that matches better IRL), brads, SU modern label punch, CM custom cutting system, SU Top Note die cuts (Wish RAK), paper piercer, dimensionals
