"One of the first things I think of when I think of Vegas is weddings!! But not just any old traditional wedding. Vegas has some very non-traditional wedding’s and that is what I want to focus!! We can all make something simple and elegant, but I want quirky and out of the box!

VSN - A Cupcake for Your Birthday

Virtual Stamp Night - May 16
Challenge F

"Most people think lights, gambling, shows, fancy hotels, food, and shopping when they think of Vegas. Me? I think CSI! The original, the best, and my favorite TV show!

The amazing CSI team in Vegas *always* gets the bad guy...even if it's a season or two later, and even if the bad guy has *tried* to trick them. How do you try trick the CSI team? By FRAMING someone else, of course!

So... My challenge to you is to create a card (or project) using a FRAME.

You could stamp on the inside of your card and use dies or punches to create the frame on the front, you could add a frame embellishment, you could alter an actual frame for an inspiration quote...the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination (and those criminals can be pretty imaginative, so try to keep up!)"

Stamps: Oh, So Sweet (Wish RAK), It's Your Birthday
Paper: chocolate chip, real red, real red DSP, DCWV retro prints mat stack
Accessories: kraft taffeta ribbon, circle & scallop punches
Technique: window card

"I haven't been to Vegas in a very, very long time....but the one thing my parents are always talking about is the food! All the buffets, and gourmet pastry shops and cafes, and the restaurants out there are just top notch. It seems like whatever you want to eat....at whatever time you want it....is available to you.

My challenge to you.....create a card or project inspired by food (or non-alcoholic drink)!!! "

Ugh! I was planning on paper piercing the outer edge of the chocolate chip layer, but I can't find my template! I just had it in my hands while cleaning off my table from last night. I once heard of people misplacing remotes in the fridge. So, I'm trying to think of weird places I might of put it! LOL! DH is trying to help. He always finds things I lose... yep. I misplace things a lot!

Challenge C

"When I first saw that the theme was going to be Vegas inspired it made me think of the tables. The card table, the roulette...well you get the idea. What do they all have in common the colors red and black baby!! The suits of the cards (red and black), the roulette wheel setup (red and black), are you starting to see a trend here?

Here is my challenge should you choose to accept:
Use red and black to make your project with the neutral being white. No other colors allowed...sorry them's the rules here in Vegas doll."

Stamps: Gina K - Langley Boy Designs - Gettin' Buggy with It

Challenge D

"When I hear “Viva Las VSN (Vegas)” … I think back to my childhood. ..… when my mother worked as a waitress there, she’d come home every once in a while and tell us how she saw Elvis eating with a whole bunch of his ‘buddies’ and occasionally even waited on his entourage.

So, thinking of Elvis … I tried to think slightly outside the box and kept coming back to his favorite snack:
Fried Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches” Yummo!

So … I wanted to go for a color challenge … Here’s the “rules” – use them loosely if you don’t have the specific supplies, but give it a whirl …

1. Colors:
a. Banana (or Saffron)
b. Creamy Caramel (peanut butter)
c. Close to Cocoa (for the ‘fried’ part)
2. You must use something MUSICAL:
a. Can be background paper
b. Can be musical instrument or note as the focal point
c. Can be an image of singing

Have FUN with it!"

Paper & Ink: close to cocoa, creamy caramel, so saffron, white

Follow Your Dreams

CAS Challenge #14 - Let's Rock & Roll!

I had a hard time Sunday evening (been sick for a few days) and finally stopped and decided on this card for this week's sample. I hope it's CAS enough!

Stamps: Seasonal Cuties, Treasure Seeker - The Angel Comapny

There is also another CAS Challenge design team call for the summer months. You can read all about it here!

Although my Mother's Day was quite uneventful due to being sick, my DS insisted that I have breakfast in bed. He's so cute! There's no greater joy than being a Mom! And our family is all excited. My sister just received wonderful news on her Mother's Day! They are adopting a baby girl that will arrive in about a month! My sis and BIL have been wanting another baby since their first child was born 7 years ago. After losing two precious babies and a few miscarriages, they decided on adoption. I am so happy for them! I had no idea that this was possibly happening when I made the "Think Pink" card I posted last week (the post below). Now I have a person to send the card to!

Have A Great Day!

Finally! My 3rd try at the sketch made me happy! So the sentiment was fitting! :)

Here's this week's CAS sketch challenge inspired by jpardoe.

The circles were punched from Basic Grey designer paper that I received in a Wish RAK. The butterfly punches are from Martha Stewart. Other cardstock: kraft, chocolate chip, baja breeze, pink pirouette, and riding hood red. The sentiment was stamped in brown and a chocolate chip marker was used on the butterflies and the border.

Oh, the adventures in stamping!

The card on the left was my first try at the CAS sketch challenge. Oh my, my punched circles were WAY too big! It only sort of resembles the sketch.

Here's the CAS sketch by jpardoe (Seen in the above post.)

The only stamping done on this card is the sentiment from Stampin' Up's Warmest Regards. All patterned paper (including cutting out the butterflies) are from DCWV's spring matstack. I also used bashful blue and white cs. I paper pierced the edge using the mat pack and used a bashful blue marker for faux stitching. Finally I sponged the edges with bashful blue and stamped the sentiment in pink passion.

The card at the right was my 2nd try at the CAS sketch challenge. It's closer to the original sketch!

Here's the CAS sketch by jpardoe (seen in the above post).

I used regal rose, white and retired Stampin' Up designer paper. I think it was called "Loves Me". The light pink swirly layer is one side of the DP. The punched circles were on the other side of the DP. The sentiment, stamped in brown, is from Stampin' Up's Heard from the Heart. And then I decided to add a little ribbon. AND WOW! I made an SUO card! It's been awhile. LOL!

Featured Stamper Challenge

SCS Featured Stamper: sparkplug17

* I used the same layout.
* I used a different dancing Bella.

* I added leaves by hand-cutting them from scraps that had been stamped with a BG from By Design (SU)

Inspired Serenity Prayer

... and another double challenge.

Today's SCS Inspiration Challenge was to choose one of Faviana's Prom dresses. I chose this dress. I was quite surprised at the dresses. I wore a big southern belle type dress that my mom made for me. I can't imagine allowing 18 year olds to dress like that. Yikes!

Special Inspiration Challenge

Last night when I saw today's SCS Inspiration challenge from Grandin Road, I decided to look for a piece that inspired me and "sleep on it". I chose an area rug from the indoor floral section. As soon as I saw the Soho Area rug in beige & black, (on my screen, the beige reminded me of river rock), I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use. The funny thing is that I had forgotten I had this stamp. But last evening while watching a movie, I spent some more time mounting stamps on EZ Mount and indexing my binders... and this Unity stamp caught my eye.

Well, I didn't wake up until 1:09 PM!!! That's right. DH was gone to work and I hardly remember him talking to me this morning. DS was up watching TV and hadn't eaten (He's alomst 14 but has many special needs). I quickly took care of him, took some meds for my migraine, and got to work. Thankfully I caught the migraine early and I was making this card!!! I happen to love it. But what do you think? (That sounded like my SCS friend Faith. LOL! But she's a good person to follow. *wink*)

Stamps: Tree of Elegance by Unity, sentiment from Inkadinkado's Best Wishes set
Colors: river rock, black
Accessories: brads, Martha Stewart lace border punch

Martha Stewart Cupcakes

Both of these cards were made for the Clean & Simple challenges on Splitcoast.

CAS07 - Use Punches

I had a really hard time taking a photo of this card, but it was easy to make. Punches are so fast and simple! First, I did the faux stitching with a paper piercer and mat stack grid. Then I used the Martha Stewart cupcake punch with Stampin' Up DP scraps. I popped up the frosting with dimensionals and colored the dividing space with a Copic sand marker. Finally, I layered, used ribbon scraps, plopped it onto the card base.

Stamps: None!
Paper: chocolate chip, creamy caramel, white, Stampin' Up DP - pumpkin pie, certainly celery, bashful blue, pretty in pink
Accessories: sand Copic marker, Martha Stewart cupcake punch, ribbon, paper piercer & mat stack, dimensionals

This card measures 4.25 square. I use 4.5 A Muse envelopes.

CAS06 - Inspiration Challenge

The Clean & Simple Challenge is an inspiration challenge from Robeez. I chose an adorable pair of baby shoes with cupcakes as my inspiration for my card. They must be sold out because the link no longer works and I can't find them. But there is so much inspiration on that site!

Stamps: sentiment - Gina K Designs
Paper: white, chocolate chip, DSP - chocolate chip, bashful blue, pumpkin pie, real red, certainly celery
Accessories: ribbon, Martha Stewart cupcake punch, dimensionals for the of the cupcakes

I'm back... and inspired to stamp again!

It's so good to be stamping again! I went back to work this week. I forgot how exhausting the first week of teaching can be. And the week before that, I was sick. Wow! It's good to be back! LOL!

I made this for the IC171 challenge. The inspiration I used was a pair of Christmas bulb salt and pepper shakers with great big blue bows on them. It reminded me of my great big Easter egg wrapped in a big bow from DRS Designs. I kept the bow blue, but I had to change the colors because I certainly didn't want to have a Christmas Easter egg! LOL!

Here's the Fitz and Floyd pepper shakers.

Here's the Inspiration Challenge.

Stamps: Easter Egg - DRS Designs, polka Dot BG from SU's Polka Dot & Paisleys
Paper: regal rose, certainly celery, white
Colors: black, certainly celery, regal rose SU marker
