Double Color Challenge

Double Color Challenge

Christian Paper Crafts
&
SCS Clean & Simple

I don't usually use this many layers on a CAS card. Thankfully, it still looks clean and simple and is without many embellishments. I didn't intend to get carried away with the layers. It all started when I couldn't decide on which kraft dsp to use. I finally decided that they looked good together. I needed some turquoise since it was part of the challenge. Without even thinking about CAS, I decided that it just looked too dull without highlighting both patterns. It wasn't until it was put together that I realized what I had done! LOL! Thankfully, CAS is a subjective term and there is no right answer or exact definition to explain it.

These colors make me think of enjoying the view of the sea while sitting on the beach. It's a gift from God... His creation... that can calm me with the sights and sounds.

RECIPE
Stamps: Gifts from the Sea (Gina K Designs)
White CS: Georgia Pacific

Turquoise Sea CS: Gina K Designs
Kraft dsp: Stampin' Up!
Ink: Crumb Cake: Stampin' Up!
Ribbon: EK Success
Other: Scor-Pal & pop-up dots

CAS Challenge Fall DT Search (2010)

Pencils for the Teacher (Recipe at the end)

Back to High School

Students need to register... not really, but ya know what I mean... post your excitement in this thread and go have fun stamping!
You can find the official thread with more information at SplitcoastStampers!

You will pick up the most awaited news that could make or brake your year! (You know that everything is so hormonal and dramatic.) You are getting your class schedules! And oh no! It's you! You are one of the lucky students to be in Mrs. Fraction's math class! OK. Don't panic. You just need a plan.

Challenge #1 - Teacher's Pet

Submission Deadline: Tuesday, August 24 @ noon EDT

2 Part Challenge

1. Use one or more punches on your card.
(Be careful to keep it CAS... that's the challenge part. Punches can be addicting.)
2. Teacher's Pet theme... and I leave it wide open for interpretation.

I don't remember making samples for these searches, but I guess I got excited because I'm a teacher.

There will be three challenges as we narrow down the "class". At the end we will have a
Pep Rally!
(Date to be determined soon. It will be either Wednesday, Sept. 1 or Thursday, Sept. 2)

Coffee for the Teacher (Recipe below)

Pencils for the Teacher
I chose an image of pencils because my middle school students are constantly losing their pencils! My most treasured gifts from parents are pencils and Kleenex! LOL!

*All CS and punches from Stampin' Up!
(poppy parade, concord crush, round tab punch layered)
*Stamp - company unknown
*Offray ribbon
*Copic markers
(BV08 blue violet, R27 cadmium red, Y35 maize, E31 brick beige, Cool Gray #3)

Coffee for the Teacher
Although I'm not a coffee drinker, many of my colleagues are addicted to it. I do like the smell though!

*Stamp - not sure, maybe Flourishes
*Colored cardstock - Stampin' Up early espresso
*Copic markers
*whisper white taffeta ribbon - Stampin' Up!
*Cuttlebug Victoria EF
*Martha Stewart scallop lace border punch.

so you won't miss a thing! :)

Blog Hop Sketch

I struggled with this sketch, but I'm glad I tried it because I like how it turned out. I used 4 stamps from Theresa's Aloha set. The bubblegum pink layer is stamped with the largest flower in the set. The punched small flowers are splattered with Momento Tangelo ink using the "sand" stamp from Melanie's Gifts from the Sea set. If you are unable to see the splatter, right click on the card to open another window. It will have a larger photo.

I'm really lucky to have this Aloha set. I played in the CHA challenges on StampTV and was randomly drawn as the winner of this set! Thanks Theresa!

Stamp Show Treasure in Use!

Fashion fades... only style remains!

It's a miracle this card is here. It was easy to make, but it took me ~ 45 minutes to get a good photo. DH used the camera and changed the settings. While trying to fix it, I messed it up way more. LOL! What a morning... and it's been the first challenge, with the exception of the CAS, that I've done in a long time. Now that my camera is fixed, I hope to do another challenge soon.

These Rubbernecker stamps are part of my stamp show treasures. The set is called Fashion Icons.

After seeing Biggan's cute bows, I decided to give it a try. Wow, that was harder than it looks. Not as hard as getting that photo though. Good grief!

Rubber Stamp Show

Heirloom's Rubber Stamp Show
Novi, Michigan
August 7, 2010

This is Randi. She was working in the Our Daily Bread Designs booth. Randi is extremely talented. She is on ODBD's design team plus many others. We are both part of the design team at Christian Paper Crafts.

We were so excited to meet each other in person. Meeting people is even better than buying stamps and accessories!

It was so fun to meet Roxie! Neither one of us knew that the other was attending, but when we saw each other, we knew instantly who the other was.

We were trying sooo hard not to blink. This was the last photo. One or both of us kept blinking. LOL!

Here's a picture of some of treasures I found. I shopped at DRS Designs, Our Daily Bread Designs, Rubbernecker, and Spellbinders. I also added a few Copic markers to my collection.

And yeah me! I didn't go over budget!

OOPS!

When I saw the Ways to Use It challenge yesterday on SCS, I just had to play. I've had Unity's woodgrain BG stamp for awhile now, but I don't remember ever using it. The first layer is popped up from the base card. It's so strange for me not to use ribbon. My card feels 'nekked'! LOL!

Stamps: monkey (CC Designs), woodgrain BG (Unity), sentiment (TAC)
Paper: kraft, close to cocoa, pretty in pink
Ink: black, close to cocoa, Copic markers
Accessories: brads, square punch (for the tag), SU large oval punch, pop-up dots

In the Sea

It wasn't a surprise to find her as last week's featured stamper :)

CASEing the Featured Stamper

SCS Featured Stamper ~ ravengirl

Question: Did you stack the cups or is the image already made with the 4 cups together?
Actually, I'm not sure. A stamping friend sent this stamped image to me in a card. For some reason, I assumed it was a single stamp of 4 cups. Now, I'm not sure. Good question!

I don't like coffee, but I love tea! I received from a stamping friend quite some time ago.

SCS Featured Stamper: ravengirl
Yeah! I could have copied her cards all week if I had time. :) I'm so happy to have her be a part of the CAS design team this season.

*I used kraft, black & white, but I changed the green to a light blue/turquoise color.
*I altered the layout a bit.
*I used the same image.
*I used dp instead of crimping regular cs.

Here's Toni's card I cased.

Stamps: Flourishes
Paper: SU kraft, black, & kraft dsp
Ink: black, Copic markers
Accessories: SU black satin ribbon and brads, pop-up dots

Create a card or project based on this fun gift basket from 1-800 Flowers.

Isn't this fun!?! And there's plenty of orange to get me excited. You probably know already how much I like the unpopular orange. LOL! I did read a few comments on SCS after the orange color challenge in April that some people were starting to like the color. That put a big smile on my face!

This is a close up to give you a better view of the shades of orange. Come on... admit you like it! * insert cheesy grin here *
