Theresa Momber: Life is Good

I'm so honored and excited to be a guest designer this month for Theresa Momber... fabulous artist and paper crafter for Gina K. Designs. This month, Theresa's new set of stamps is "Life is Good". I love this set for the memories it brings for me. Going "up north" to my aunt and uncle's cabin for a week was a highlight of summers as a child. Trains have a special meaning for my husband as a child. His grandfather loved trains and we now have his train set displayed at Christmas time.

Theresa's second guest designer is Geri Utterbeck! You can see her designs tonight using "Life is Good" on her blog, Geri's Cards: Life is what you make it. You'll love what she has created tonight... seen on her blog and Theresa's!

"Snow is glistening.... walking in a winter wonderland." Love that song. Too bad I can't carry a tune. LOL!

My winter scene of the cabin has some "visitors"! I used close to cocoa and kraft dsp for this card as well as Copic markers for coloring. The sky is sponged in bashful blue using my handmade cloud template made using scalloped scissors. I finished it with the Martha Stewart snowflake punch and glitter, an eyelet and organdy ribbon, and rhinestone stickers on the snowflakes.

I love Geri's winter scene she posted to her blog for the blog hop on December 16.... gorgeous! (In the same post you will see 2 more creations using this set!)

I like the way this card turned out... the cranberry tart cardstock is rich and perfect! I used Copic markers to color the image and used another marker to stamp the sentiment at three different levels. GKD's cranberry tart and chocolate kiss cardstock are just lovely... I will need more soon! :) This was my first time using them and I love them! The designer paper was from my scrap collection and matched perfectly, but I don't remember the company. Accessories used: EK Success border punch, SU's vanilla taffeta ribbon, and CM's custom cutting system (I don't have Nesties, yet. So I have to make large circles the hard way! Some day I'll get those Nesties :).

For my last card, I used the images to make a summer scene at dusk since my memories at the cabin are during the summer. I used Gina K's kraft cardstock. Wow! What a difference in color from what I'm used to. It's fabulous! I used my cloud template, again. You can see the detail better by clicking on the photo for a larger picture. I used a lot of sponging and Copic markers to color the scene and then finished it with SU's kraft taffeta ribbon a cute button from Gina K's neutral button assortment.

Thank you, Theresa, for letting me play with your stamps!! :)

Challenges with Unity Stamps

The first 2 cards were made as samples for today's clean & simple challenge on SCS. I went crazy on this challenge and have 2 more cards with this sketch that I hope to upload later. The sketch is inspired by ltecler! You can see her adorable card here.

Stamps: Stylin' Stars, Delightful Moments Dec. '09 KOM - Unity
Paper: white, soft suede
Ink: soft suede
Accessories: ribbon, rhinestone stickers, CM custom cutting system

This card measures 4.25 square. I use 4.5 A Muse envelopes.

Randy Reindeer is my second card. I made my own "xoxo" border around the top circle layer. It just seemed to need something else but wanted to keep it simple.

Stamps: Randy Reindeer - Unity
Paper: white, creamy caramel, chocolate chip, real red
Ink: black, creamy caramel marker for the "xo" doodling, Copic markers
Accessories: gingham ribbon, CM custom cutting system, CB Swiss Dots (Wish RAK)

This card measures 4.25 square. I use 4.5 A Muse envelopes.

This is one of two samples I made for today's color challenge on Christian Paper Crafts: use any shade of purple, white, and an optional color is black.

Stamps: Linden Branch, sentiment from June '09 KOM (Unity)
Paper & Ink: white, rich razzleberry, black
Accessories: ribbon

This card measures 4.25 square. I use 4.5 A Muse envelopes.

Snowpeople are the cutest!

Here is a sneak peek of the new DRS Designs' Snow Lady. Isn't she adorable?!? I love the snowflakes on her hat and the eyelashes are too cute! I used one of my favorite color combinations: pink, apricot, and pumpkin.

I used Copic markers to color the image and and SU marker for the greeting and dots on the scallop. Additional accesssories include: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, SU scallop edge punch, and dimensionals
Technique: out-of-the-box

A Parade of Color Challenge Cards

Christian Paper Crafts
Color Monday Challenge

CM35 (December 14): Certainly A Critter's Real Christmas Colors
I love watching furry pets at Christmas. I love incorporating stuffed animals in with my Christmas decorations. So this week's colors are certainly celery (or similar shade), a Christmas red, a neutral color for color of a pet (brown, gray, black), and white or vanilla. A pet or animal does not have to be included on your card. Here is the link to the CPC color challenge (coming soon).

Holly & Mistletoe

Stamps: Penny Black
Paper: certainly celery, white
Ink: black, Copic markers
Wish RAK Accessories: Cuttlebug snowflake BG, scallop oval Nestabilites
Other Accessories: SU scallop circle punch, ribbon, brads

This card measures 4.25 square. I used 4.5 A Muse envelopes.

A red snowman? Only at Christmas!

This card is also a sample for the SCS - CAS challenge, today. (Link coming soon)

Stamps: Cold Play (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: white, real red dsp, unknown dp
Ink: chocolate chip
Accessories: circle punches, Martha Stewart embossed snowflake punch, ribbon

Now there's a good looking cowboy! LOL!

By the time I got to the last 2 cards, I forgot I was supposed to be using a lighter green... oops!!!
This card is also a sample for the SCS - CAS challenge, today.

Stamps: sneak peek... brand new DRS Designs... cowboy snowman
More DRS Stamps: paisley background & sentiment
Paper: creamy caramel, real red, white
Ink: Palette burnt umber, creamy caramel, Copic markers

O' Holy Night... the Best Time of the Year

Christmas is my favorite holiday. And O' Holy Night is my favorite hymn.

Season's Greetings, Frosty

SCS Featured Stamper: pam124

I love Pam's Gallery and I could CASE her all day long! I wish I had more time. Thank you Pam for helping me to get my Christmas cards done.

* Same them and layout.
* The Top Note is the same, but I used a circle punch instead of the SU ornament punch... wish I had that cool punch!
* I used a stamped image instead of a punched snowflake and moved the sentiment because my card is an A2 card instead of a square card.

Here's Pam's beautiful card: A Very Merry Quilted Christmas

Stamps: Frosty, Snow Swirled (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: cranberry crisp, brocade blue, white, Glittered Winter dsp (DCWV), unknow green polka-dotted dp
Ink: black, Copic markers, black marker
Accessories: Top Note die (Wish RAK), circle punch & CM custom cutting system, eyelet, ribbon

Here are some more of Pam's cards that I wish I had time to CASE!

Christmas Kittens

SCS Sketch Challenge #258

I just love this Christmas image! I can't wait to see what mess are new kitten makes. (Well, she's about 6 months old now and a little tamer... just a little LOL!) The polka-dots were made with a white gel pen. I don't have a Top Note die. I received some from generous people in the Wish RAK forum! Tracing and cutting the dp and white layer is not easy!!! But I think the end results look pretty good!

Stamp: Christmas kittens (High Hopes)
Paper: real red, real red dsp, white, unknown Christmas dp (unknown)
Ink: black, black marker for the noses, SU red marker for the bows, Copic markers: R29 Lipstick Red, YR31 light reddish yellow, YG13 Chartreuse, W2 warm gray, E31 brick beige, E71 Champagne
Accessories: Martha Stewart bow punch, white gel pen, Top Note die cut, pop-up dots

Peppermint Flowers & Trees

Christian Paper Crafts
Case Artist Challenge #32 - Cindy & Angella
Saturday, December 5

Peppermint Flowers
CASEd from Angella Crockett (Christian Paper Crafts Design Team)

This is a card I CASEd from Angella's gallery. I changed the theme to Christmas and used punches for peppermints rather than button flowers. Here's Angella's adorable card.

Recipe:
Sentiment Stamp: Twigster (SU)
Paper: white, real red, green galore, unknown dp
Ink: glorious green
Accessories: SU word window punch, Martha Stewart leaf punch, EK Success "swirl" punch, 3/4 inch circle punch. paper piercer, white gel pen, ribbon, pop=up dots

Peppermint Trees
CASEd from Cindy Coutts (Christian Paper Crafts Design Team)

This is a card I CASEd from Cindy's gallery. Here's her beautiful and fun card! I changed the these things:

*I used similar trees and colors.
*Same theme and layout.
*I used different punches and used a scallop edge punch instead of a scallop sticker border.

Recipe:
Stamps: Season of Joy (SU)
Paper: white, real red, old olive &dsp, unknown Christmas Words dsp
Ink: old olive
Accessories: ribbon, circle punches, SU's designer & modern label punches, SU's scallop edge punch, EK Success "swirl" punch

Both of these cards have peppermints that were made from punches. To see how I made them, click here!

I found a new challenge! It's over at Stamp TV!

I found a new challenge!

Stamp TV Inspiration Challenge (12/4/09)
I was inspired by the colors, blue and green, and the snowflakes. I'm not sure which company this dp is from, but I think it may be DCWV. I used Melanie's Inspiration Mosaic stamp set to get the blocking on the snowflake dp. I also used the mosaic stamp on the ornament dp and cut out some of the pieces to fit in the design. The sign is from Gina's North Pole set and the sentiment is from Gina's Punchy Words stamps set.

Stamps: Inspiration Mosaic, North Pole, Punchy Words (Gina K. Designs)
Paper: bashful blue, old olive, white, dp
Ink: black, Copic markers for the sign, SU markers for the sentiment & dots on the "snow"
Accessories: ribbon, SU circle punch, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, dimensionals

My First Christmas Ornament

I've been wanting to make a Christmas ornament for awhile and just haven't made time. And this morning I opened up mitchygitchygoomy's gallery for the SCS featured stamper challenge and found this wonderful scallop card with gingerbread men. It instantly made me think of my round coasters! In the picture above, it shows the tools I used to make my peppermint candy. I used a "swirl" punch from EK Success and a 3/4 inch circle punch. I save a lot of small scrap paper for things like this! Waste not, want not!!!

Here is a close-up view of my ornament. This took a long time, but it was well worth it. Recipe:

Stamps: gingerbread man, candy cane Christmas critter, Santa hat, Vicki's versatile background, and the sentiment pictured above (all DRS Designs)
Paper: real red, certainly celery, creamy caramel, white
Ink: black, creamy caramel, Copic markers
Accessories: ribbon, eyelet, SU designer label punch, CM circle punch & custom cutting system, Marvy scallop circle punch, Nestie scallop circle (received from Wish RAK), black coaster (TAC), white gel pen, EK Success "swirl" punch, red sticky tape

And here is the ornament hanging on my Charlie Brown Christmas tree! Isn't this tree the cutest?!? It came with Charlie Brown's blanket and one red ornament. A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite childrens' Christmas movie. (It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite "adult" movie!!!) My DH purchased this tree and the stuffed frog with snowman at Meijer.

Thanks for looking!

Each day holds...

SCS Inspiration Challenge #209
Charm Lady Boutique

I was inspired by the beautiful Sparkly Twigs pendant.

There are liquid pearls in the center of each.... Not sure what to call them. It's supposed to be a branch. LOL! Anyway, the liquid pearls can be seen IRL and they are white. The polka-dots on the letters is part of the stamp made by Unity. And the dots, bigger than a marker dot and perfectly round, were made with a Martha Stewart edge punch. It also embosses a row of scallops just above the punched scallops.

Stamps: Linden Branch, sentiment (Unity)
Paper: chocolate chip, bashful blue, white
Ink: chocolate chip
Accessories: taffeta ribbon, Martha Stewart edge punch, Liquid Pearls

The Three Wish Men

The Three Wise Men

I've been so nervous about making this card! The Three Wise Men Ornament (DRS Designs) is so beautiful and I'm not sure I did it justice. My idea was to leave the card simple to show off that beautiful image.

The image is colored with Copic markers. I used an eyelet to lace the gold ribbon through. The greeting is inked with a marker to stamp it at two different levels. The next time I do that, I will be more careful about measuring distance. Yikes! Finally, the navy blue layer is mounted on pop up dots.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I'm Holly Jolly by Golly

SCS Inspiration Challenge #208

I have to be honest... When I saw sock monkey in Unity's KOM last month, I didn't think I would ever use this sock monkey. But I stamped some up thinking he might become cute. Well, it turns out that Oliebollen has a sock monkey for sale! Here's my conversation with myself before I made the card. LOL!

So.... What kind of card should I make? I do need more Christmas cards. Maybe I could find a Santa hat that wasn't too, too big for him. I found this one in my Wish RAK Christmas stash. What sentiment should I use? My favorite unique sentiments are from Unity & TAC. When I saw this one that I hadn't ever used, I thought it was perfect... just as goofy as the sock monkey!

PLEASE don't be offended if you like the sock monkey.

It turns out I like the card. LOL! I just don't know who I would give it to!

Stamps: sock monkey (Unity), sentiment (TAC), Santa Hat (unknown)
Paper: white, real red, close to cocoa & real red dsp
Ink: close to cocoa, Copic marker (R29?)
Accessories: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, brads, ribbon, SU wide oval punch, Marvy mega scallop oval punch, white gel pen

I love to color!

I love to color! It's very relaxing to me. So, some days I just color instead of making a card. If you love challenges the way I do, you'll see how very beneficial this is. It's so much quicker to get that challenge card uploaded! I can completely skip a step if I have the right image colored. As you can see from the above photo, that doesn't happen very often. LOL!

This is the card I made for today's Clean & Simple challenge on SCS. I had her colored ahead of time. So it was completely coincidental that I was making a card with a kitten. I almost didn't have this uploaded in time for my challenge sample. I couldn't find my camera. Does anyone else have that problem? I do because I have to hide it from our kitten... and I don't always remember to hide it in the same spot. She likes the cord! I usually have the Christmas tree up by this time, I'm a little nervous. Now this kitty on the card looks so innocent. She would never hurt anything! LOL!

It's make-over week for the last challenge of the season. I chose to make over a card by making it cleaner. It still has some layers, but the dp isn't distracting my eyes from the image. And I used a bow punch and doodling instead of ribbon. That saved some time. Here is the original card.

Stamps: Sittin' Pretty Kitty (G136), Merry Christmas Arc (E102), and the gift background (H1140) - all DRS Designs

I love these short snowmen!

SCS Featured Stamper: Mrs. Boz

I had fun cruising CarollAnne's gallery, today. Here is the card that inspired me.

*I used the same theme and I changed the image from 3 mice to 3 snowmen.
*I used a dp print and used it for just a portion of the card. I didn't want to cover the words on the dp and it already had a sentiment, so I used just a bow instead.
*I didn't use a ticket corner punch or layer the image layer.

I received this adorable Whipper Snapper image from Wish RAK.
