Doing the happy dance!

This is another card that I made for Monday's CAS challenge: use dimensionals / pop-up dots on your clean & simple cards. (Although it's one layer without the popped up parts, it's not as open as I wanted it.

Has this ever happened to you? My card was done. I liked it. And then I smudged it with ink. Ugh! So now you see 2 spiders hanging from ribbon! Why not make them any color I want? LOL! I think they match my snail rather well!

I used the paper tole technique by using dimensionals to pop up portions of the flower images more than once.

Gina K. Designs’ Stamps: Bug Me Anytime (Nina Brackett), Warm & Fuzzy (Asela Hopkins), Tag Lines (Gina K.)
DRS Designs’ Stamps: grass
Paper: white
Ink: black, wild wasabi, Copic markers (R85 rose red, R83 rose mist, RV34 dark pink, YR23 yellow ochre, YR20 Yellowish Shade, G24 Willow, G21 Lime Green, C-1 cool gray)
Accessories: ribbon, dimensionals
Technique: paper tole

Here's a fun comment I received on StampTV hat summed up my idea when making this card:

"This is so stinkin' cute! I love the scene you created. And that sentiment is just perfect for all the fun things in there. I'm imagining the spiders swinging and the layered flowers look like they're doing the shimmy. :-) Great job!" - Nina

Monday's Favorites continued...

Wow! Just like usual, I'm exhausted the first week with kiddies at school. I came home today (yesterday) right away and feelingvery sick. I went to bed right away and slept 7 hours. I'm up in the middle of the night viewing the SCS gallery and wanted to post some things before I take a "nap" before school. I should have a normal routine going by the end of next week.

Lots of fun things to see in the gallery on these days! Some of these ladies uploaded more than one card. If you have time, you may want to check out their galleries.

The Great Escape

I have had so much fun using this adorable DRS stamp: High Tailin' Turkey! It reminds me of a small class of special education students I taught a few years ago. We were writing a story together. They came up with the ideas and I modeled the writing. It was called, The Great Escape. I wish I had been more careful with saving it. It was such an adorable story. This turkey image is like a walk down memory lane. :)

This first card was made for the SCS Clean & Simple challenge to use dimensionals / pop-up dots. On this card, the hats are popped up. The designer paper was cut free-hand to make the hill. I also used a Scor-Pal, SU punches, and Copic markers. The sentiment is the first two lines of the sentiment seen in the third card of this post.

This second card was designed using the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week. I used Copic markers for the turkey and SU creamy caramel ink for the ground. First I sponged the ink, starting from the edge and sponging towards the center. Then I used my markers to add some "pebbles". Cardstock: white, sahara sand, sage shadow, and To the Nines dsp. Accessories: brads, scalloped Nestie, Martha Stewart zig-zag edge punch.

On this last card, I wanted to emphasize the full greeting. So I used the turkey to make a unique background by repeatedly stamping him in mulitiple directions.

DRS Stamps: High Tailin' Turkey (F297), Turkey on the Run greeting (G318)
Paper: white, creamy caramel, baroque burgundy, CM retired patterened paper
Ink: black, creamy caramel
Accessories: brads, CM custom cutting system, scallop circle die cut, Martha Stewart edge punch

Here's my take on the
Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #18

DRS Designs Stamps: Golf Ball Snowman (K448), Holiday Wish to Bring Cheer Greeting (G944)

Ink: black, SU real red marker, Copic markers (YG95, R29)
Accessories: scalloped rectangle (wish RAK), CB Swiss Dots (Wish RAK), SU circle & modern label punches, eyelets, gingham ribbon

Teacher Clipboard

I can't start the new school year with out a new clipboard! Although I've been back to work for a few days last week, today is the first day with kiddies. I'm always unable to sleep the night before the first day, but this is harder. I've had a bad migraine for 2 days, I'm at a new school and DS is nervous about going to high school... neither one of us was able to sleep much. But the 1st day adrenaline will keep us going. It's the after school part of the day that will be hard. We will both probably crash with exhaustion! LOL!

This clipboard was made with retired Creative Memories patterned paper and a retired Stampin' Up Simply Scrappin' kit. I think it may have been called "At Home".

(PS... the note I used to cover up my name is really true. :) )

We hope you are inspired by their creations and will consider sending us your cards for this great cause.

To inspire you further DRS Designs will be offering a Total of 4 prizes!! Two prizes will be awarded at the end of each month (September & October). Click here for more details.

Here's my first holiday card for the troops. I used the new gift background stamp. I love it! I got away from BG stamps when designer paper came along. the big huge stamps were big, heavy, and hard to get good coverage. But this, and other DRS BGs are just the right size for repeat stamping a BG and easy inking. I love it!

DRS Stamps: Gift background (H1140), Greatest Gifts Christmas Greeting (G1017)
Paper: pretty in pink, regal rose, white, certainly celery
Ink: black, regal rose, certainly celery
Accessories: taffeta ribbon, SU markers, Nestie scalloped oval (Wish RAK)

I think I missed a lot on each day. Migraines are miserable. On a scale of 1 to 10... it's an 8. Most are mild. I have 2 a year that are 10.
