WEEK 1 - Unity BACHELOR Bro CHALLENGE!

This is my submission for Broman's 1st challenge. I didn't understand the "Seriously, Who does this?" until I saw the YouTube video that was on Unity's blog with the challenge.

Week 1: We were to make an invitation for a date with the man we love using the colors, black, red, & green. Details of the challenge can be found here. You can see the blog post here. Seriously, Who does this?

I was very excited to get my new KOTM stamps yesterday. I knew what images I wanted to use. With the colors and theme, I couldn't resist altering this sentiment (big is popped up with dimensionals) and making green M&Ms! My DH claims he didn't know what they meant. Is it just a Michigan thing? Or his head in the sand??

Stamps: September KOTM '09
Paper: certainly celery, certainly celery DSP, white, black, ruby red
Ink: certainly celery, ruby red & basic black markers, certainly celery to sponge the edges of the card base
Accessories: SU's circle, word window & corner punches, EK Success edge punch, heart brad, paper piercer, dimensionals
Techniques: faux stitching, sponging

Favorites? You can find the whole week here!

Wow! It's been a VERY long week! I missed a whole week of viewing SCS and posting fun things on my blog. There were a couple of days that I wasn't even on the internet. Whoa!

I'm still in that very busy mode starting the school year and this time I'm at a new school. A lot more things incredible are going on that make life easier. I see the little things that are taken for granted from the people who have never worked at another school. For example: There are books for children in the counseling office for younger siblings coming in with their parents. These crisis bag contains a large yellow t-shirt so staff can easily be identified in an emergency. The substitutes in the building are emailed to the whole staff. Little things like that make a school unique, caring, and very effective.

OK! Enough with work. :) I also had a cyst removed from my scalp on Thursday. (It was causing some of my migraines. I still have to have one more removed.) It doesn't feel too bad today. Even though I had the flu last week, I came doen with a nasty cold... along with a lot of other staff and students. And DH and I went to DS's appointment with his surgical team. we have some tough decisions to make concerning his cerebral palsy, quality of life, and how he will get the care he needs through the recovery process (many months). Don't get too worked up. These things are good troubles. I know parents whose disabled children didn't make it through childhood.

This isn't a full list. I'm slowly making my way through the gallery, sometimes hopping around to the challenge cards. I've missed too much this week! I need to see more cards before I do chores. {wink} This list will change throughout the weekend as I continue viewing.

HELLOOOOO

I'm still here! Sort of.

We had curriculum night at school. I met some great parents tonight.

I've been working hard. Getting into a comfortable working routine always takes 2-3 weeks in my field. (special education) I'll be back soon. :)

CWDKids Inspired Cards

I just loved, loved, loved yesterday's inspiration challenge on SCS. If I had little ones, I'd be broke! Here are 3 of the 6 cards I made. (I never even got to the Halloween cards I wanted to make.)

For this Tent Topper card, I decided to try and make a card with just a Santa hat seen here and many other CWDKids' pages. I also used these polka dot jammies to start me off. I then decided to make a tent topper to show off the Santa hats. The base card measures 4.25 square.

All stamps from DRS Designs: santa hat, jolly holiday sentiment, swag circle frame
Paper: kiwi kiss, white, unknown dp
Ink: black, Copic markers
Accessories: Marvy scallop circle punch

Here are the clothes that inspired Holly & Filigree snowflake card.

All stamps from DRS Designs
Stamps: Medium Filigree Snowflake, Silhouette Holly, Holiday Wish greeting
Paper: white, riding hood red
Ink: garden green & ruby red markers, black
Accessories: taffeta ribbon, seafoam white EP, SU dazzling diamonds glitter

This card was so much fun!!! I was stamping most of the afternoon. But DH was working on a special assignment and DS and I are recovering from the flu, so it's alright to be lazy this weekend. (to get re-energized for the upcoming week) {wink}

All Stamps from DRS Designs: which was minimal. I love the circle punches that make the tree. DH was not impressed. But I love it! Here's the adorable little girl's shirt that inspired this card. (Scroll down a bit to enlarge the photo of this shirt.)

Featured Stamper Challenge

SCS Featured Stamper: steubner
Shannan is one talented lady! I could spend a month CASEing her cards if time allowed for it.

* I changed the layout slightly.
* Instead of stamping Christmas bulbs, I used sentiments on dp and punched them with SU circle punches.
* I used 2 Christmas bulbs instead of one.
* I didn't use any hardware. Instead, I added a few punches and some doodling.
* I changed the kraft to white, used different shades of red & green, and added rich razzleberry.
* I stamped the side panel instead of using dp.

Here's Shannan's gorgeous Rustic Merry Christmas card.

Stamps: Medium Filigree Snowflake & greetings (DRS Designs)
Paper: white, old olive, rich razzleberry & dsp, riding hood red & dsp, black
Ink: black, old olive
Accessories: SU circle punches, EK Success edge punch, Martha Stewart bow & branch punches, black marker, dimensionals, rich razzleberry ribbon

Autumn is here!

Does anyone remember Morning Marigold from the first In-Colors release by Stampin' Up? I didn't know I had any left. I found this little piece in my scrap bin!

Here's a "just for fun" card using a couple of new DRS stamps. The sunflower & pumpkin are cut out. They are a part of a larger stamp.

Stamps: Sunflower/Pumpkin Patch and pumpkin greeting (DRS Designs)
Paper: white, marigold morning, groovy guava, DCWV spring or summer Mat Stack
Ink: black, Copic markers: YR04 chrome orange, Y38 honey, Y35 maize, Y06 acid yellow, G21 lime green, G24 willow, E71 champagne, E37 sepia)
Accessories: groovy guava ribbon, EK Success edge punch
