Black Friday - Unity's Friday with Flair
What fun to be part of the customer blog hop, Friday with Flair! I haven't participated since the new school year started.
It's probably obvious, but just in case, these petals are actually feathers from Build A Turkey! I didn't have long to use this set before the season was done, so I started brainstorming alternative ways to use it. What do you think? I'm not sure what I think.... I keep seeing turkey feathers! LOL!
As part of the Christian Paper Crafts design team, thanks again Unity for being our sponsor this month!!
Stamps: Build A Turkey, Go Ahead... Wish! - September '09 KOM (Unity)
Paper: white, apricot appeal, dsp, unknown dp
Ink: brown, Copic markers
Accessories: brads, ribbon, paper piercer & template (SU mat stack), SU circle punch & scallop edge punch (layered with white on apricot dsp)
Techniques: faux stitching

Super-Sweet Christmas
This is my 3rd SCS sketch challenge, today! I wasn't sure I could use it when I first saw it, but a couple of hours later, I noticed that I had many images (that were already colored) punched or cut in circles. Hmmm. So, I went back to the challenge..... And here is my 3rd card! On this one, I turned the sketch.
Stamps: Candy Cane Christmas Critter (E134), Super Sweet Chriatmas Greeting (E140), Gingerbread Man (E040), Vicki's Versatile BG (H369) - DRS Designs
Paper: white, pretty in pink, rose red, unknown dp
Ink: black, creamy caramel, SU markers for doodling & candy canes, Copic markers for coloring

The Holidays with Unity
Unity Stamps Co. is the sponsor at Christian Paper Crafts this month. What a month to become a part of the CPC design team! I love Unity stamps! They have high quality, deeply etched rubber stamps. And their images and sentiments are so unique and fun and they are perfect for both card making and scrapbooking. I love them!!!
This is a place card for Thanksgiving dinner. I saw some place cards in the SCS gallery using the Top Note die cut and thought I would give it a try. I wanted something different and unique for the the sentiment instead of the usual Thanksgiving sentiments. This one is part of the November 2008 Kit of the Month. The background and pumpkin images are part of the Simple Blessings set. Both stamps sets are part of the Unity garage sale!
I love using pink on Christmas cards! This beautiful stamp set is called Bright & Merry Winter Wishes. I used regal rose and garden green ink. The accessories used: Top Note die cut, organza ribbon, and diamond Stickles.

On this Sunday... What this card means to me....
Today, DRS Designs is sponsoring the Card Positioning Systems challenge found here. It took me a long time to plan this card. I don't usually do well with images tilted. But in the end, I think I did OK.
What this card means to me...
I LOVE the images on this card. The greeting is so perfect for our country today, especially here in Michigan where our unemployment rate is over 15%. The strong need in my immediate community is almost 25%. It really hurts to talk to other parents. I want to give as much as I can to help, but with me just getting back to work after a medical leave and my husband now on medical leave with his recent diagnosis of a crippling genetic disorder, we're just getting back on our feet and not stressing about an empty and overdrawn bank account. It's weird that 2 years ago I didn't worry about money. We had, and still have, credit card debt, but we were "different" back then. We fit the mold of Americans that were too confident with our financial status. Lessons hurt. But with God's help, we are becoming more responsible. I don't know how people get through the hard times without Him. As we approach the holidays, people are depressed. The suicide rate will go up. It the news, I hear it's already starting.
Sorry if this sounds like drama. We've delayed the orthodonic treatment my son needs for non-cosmetic reasons. We're delaying invasive surgery for my son on his legs because I don't know how we can care for him right now. I feel I'm neglecting his educational needs while his school is not meeting his special needs because I'm just trying to survive my new job during school hours. I have a very, very stressful 2 days of work coming before I can enjoy the holiday weekend. Yet, it is nothing compared to what others are going through around me. Dear Lord, please take care for them.
The Recipe
Stamps: Bunch of Wheat (K137), Arc Thanksgiving (E050), Changing World Thanksgiving Greeting (G079), Medium Silhouette Leaf (D701) - DRS Designs
Paper: Crushed Curry (I think this is the first time I used it!), ruby red, more mustard, chocolate chip, white
Ink: crushed curry, creamy caramel, Palette burnt umber, ruby red, more mustard, chocolate chip
Accessories: brads, ribbon, Marvy Giga & Mega scallop circle punches, sponge, dimensionals
