Update: Where have I been?
Wow! I guess it's been awhile since I posted anything. Life has been super crazy here since my son's surgery in May. He has cerebral palsy and had 10 procedures/12 incisions done on his legs, knees, ankles and feet. He's just now becoming strong enough to help with transfers, but he isn't standing. If that wasn't enough, he had complications after surgery. He needed blood transfusions and a specialist is keeping track of his blood pressure and right kidney. He spent a month in casts. They were so heavy. Wow! We are glad they are gone! :) To get him to Children's Hospital in Detroit (for the blood pressure & kidneys), we had to rent a wheelchair minivan. Those things are not cheap. So yeah, the casts are a piece of the past I won't miss... or forget.
I have lots of cards to post, especially after the July 4th holiday CAS challenges. I'm still busy making cards, I'm just not getting here to post them. My writing hobby has been even more neglected, but things will progressively get better as the summer continues.
I've posted some pics for you so you can get an idea of what my son went through. He spent his 16th birthday in bed. Poor kid. He also missed SCAMP... a special summer camp for special kids. Brian is one of the kids pictured on their web site. It was taken a few years ago. You can see it HERE. He is the one getting a piggy back ride from one of the teenage volunteers.

Oh, bless his heart! Give Brian a big hug from me, Jen. He sure is a brave one! And a big hug to the rest of you, too!!
Wow, you've had quite a summer! I'm so sorry you're son has been going through so many health issues - it must be so stressful. Hoping he is on the road to recovery! I'm a Michigan girl myself ~ I live in Sterling Heights! Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers!
Miss Boo, I have missed seeing your posts. You were one of my first posts that I started following last August. Life seems to have its challenges in your home. My prayers are with you and your family. It is sad that your son missed camp. I am sure that is a special time in his summer that he always looks forward to. I bet all his camp mates missed having him there. Glad you posted and shared your sons pictures. Take care.
Oh that sweet boy! I'm so sorry he had to miss camp and has so many challenges. Bless his heart, and your's as well!

Bless his heart is right. I'm sorry he had to miss camp, but I hope he is recovering well. All those incisions and stitches. Poor boy. I don't know if I ever told you but I have a 15-year old grandson with cerebral palsy, and he always looks forward to his summer camp time. Hugs to you, sweet Jen!

Jen, so glad the casts are off & Brian is on the right path. I have been thinking of you guys! Too bad he missed camp, but hopefully the surgery will improve things for him. Best of luck & I'll keep Brian and your family in my prayers!
What a brave boy to go through that! Bless you all; what a summer you have had! Here's hoping the rest of the summer is easier for you all and that Brian's recovery continues without incident!
