OOPS!

When I saw the Ways to Use It challenge yesterday on SCS, I just had to play. I've had Unity's woodgrain BG stamp for awhile now, but I don't remember ever using it. The first layer is popped up from the base card. It's so strange for me not to use ribbon. My card feels 'nekked'! LOL!

Question: Did you stack the cups or is the image already made with the 4 cups together?
Actually, I'm not sure. A stamping friend sent this stamped image to me in a card. For some reason, I assumed it was a single stamp of 4 cups. Now, I'm not sure. Good question!

I don't like coffee, but I love tea! I received from a stamping friend quite some time ago.

Congrats Stephanie! I had a really difficult time choosing just one. Here is the card that inspired me. I used a different cute fishing image. I rarely mix designer paper and Stephanie is so good at it. So I gave it a whirl. Most everything else is changed. I wish I could sew, but it's not a skill of mine at the moment.

My new craft room is not put together yet and I had to search the basement for old crayons so I could have white petals on the kraft cardstock. Phew! I found one. This is a Rose Art crayon, not my favorite. Nothing can beat the quality of Crayola and the smell is just awesome. Am I the only one who thinks that? LOL!

And just a few hours ago, I received my newest GKD order with the new release, Seeds of Kindness, by Gina. I am in love with this set already! This card was so easy and super fast... could hardly believe it! First I colored the image using Copic markers: YG67 moss, G24, willow, & E43 dull ivory. With the exception of the base card and main image, everything else was made with scraps on my craft table. See.... sometimes leaving a mess is a good thing. LOL! (~insert cheesy, guilty grin here~)

Lots to share... and thanks to give.

I've been missing in action and I thought I'd carefully share.

First... Happy birthday to my son! He is 15 years old today! He's my miracle, born at 24 weeks gestation weighing only 1 pound and 4 ounces. It seems impossible that he has finished his first year of high school. And to think that he once had a doctor tell me that he was severely mentally impaired and to get over it. I'm glad I refuse to believe everything I hear... even if I can be gullible at times. Despite cerebral palsy and high functioning autism, he is popular where ever he goes. He is truly a blessing to my small family.

Second, I have been struggling with stressed induced illnesses. When this happens, I am often unable to take my many medications, including the ones I take for depression and bipolar.... both of which I refuse to hide. I have learned that although it's a real pain, it also makes me who I am. I can choose for it to hurt me or enlighten me. I go back and forth when un-medicated. When I'm not around, I'm on the down swing and sincerely appreciate the words of encouragement and help that I get from my online friends. You are amazing. I have tears in my eyes as I right this part.

As far as the illnesses, I'm tired and I've been in denial. I have specialists I'm supposed to be seeing and I've refused to call on test results for a possible (benign/not a big deal) brain tumor. I can't eat much. The upside is that I've lost about 45 pounds! :)

Third, this disorder is widely misunderstood and one of the last accepted differences that people hold prejudices against in our society. It has caused me to lose friends, trust and respect. Many famous and successful people have this disorder without the public knowing about it. They suffer in silence and in fear. I refuse to do that. It provides empathy, creativity, and reassurance that I'm not crazy... as odd as that sounds. LOL!

My DH was diagnosed with a disabling genetic disorder a little over a year ago. It effects his cervical spine and will continue to worsen throughout life. But physical therapy is slowing the progress. My son needs radical surgery amongst other medical care as he is reaching puberty. I'm hanging on the edge and my hobbies are my life-line. It is crucial for me to get back in balance. Any prayers are welcome.

I want to thank the people at SCS and Christian Paper Crafts who have faith in me and are supporting me through these tough times: Cindy Coutts and the entire design team at CPC and Denise and the CAS design team at SCS. I presently couldn't get through all of this without you. The community at Stamp TV are a wonderful group of people who are special to me as well. And of course, where would I be without my family, the great people who take care of my son at a special camp 3 days a week, and my psychiatrist/counselor and her assistant. They are the best around.

Anyway, I haven't disappeared completely and I'm gradually enjoying crafting again as I try and "reinvent" myself in the career world... not an easy thing to do in Michigan.

Sorry for unloading. I just thought I should explain. kwim? I sincerely miss the galleries and seeing all the work from talented paper crafters. I miss you!

It's been awhile since I've had time in the gallery. It's amazing finding out how much stuff you have when you try and move it! We didn't move to a new home. I switched my craft room with DS's bedroom. He's getting the bigger room and in return I get the room without direct sunlight. What a relief it is not to have to carefully cover up all the cardstock after every use! So all the furniture is moved, but I'm still not organized. Sigh.

A Pocket Card with a Bookmark

I have many childhood memories of camping with my family. I don't remember much about the places. It's the family time I remember the most. It's our family (and sometimes our camping friends) around the campfire. It's becoming friends with siblings or we would be really bored! It's the ridiculous song that my brother, sister, and I made up and used to sing when we were almost home (I'm not sure if my parents liked the song as much as we did. LOL!)



Reading was one of the things that we did while traveling to our destination. I wish I had a cool bookmark like this one. :)

Lantern: How could I forget that lantern? It went with me to the campground's bathroom so many times!

Sign: Every serious camper knows that you have to have a sign on your camper/trailer. It may have a witty saying but most of the time it has the family's name.

Campfire: Stories, S'mores, and Hobo Pies. What a great life!


This was fun to make. It was a trip down memory lane! My brother and sister have carried on the tradition with their families. I have to admit that I am jealous of that from time to time. But every family is unique just as every person is unique. Camping just isn't very relaxing for a son who is challenged with cerebral palsy and high functioning autism. We find other things that are fun. Being blessed with a child who is here by a miracle is much more satisfying than camping.

I had so many ideas running through my head for this challenge. I've been meaning to get back to scrapbooking and my wedding certainly is a favorite summer memory. Six years later, I am not done with my wedding album. I know, shame on me. LOL! This is Brian's page that I devoted to him with photos and stories. Actually, I have more stories to tell, so I'll continue on a second page. It will be more of a journaling page with maybe one photo. I have a few close up shots below if you'd like a better view. (Recipe after the next photo)


Since this was a 2nd wedding for the both of us, I chose a non-traditional environment. I wore a mint green (almost aqua) dress and we were married on the shore of a lake at a small wedding chapel. It was very small and I was so happy that all the difficult planning was taken care of by the wedding chapel personnel. Planning a wedding without worrying about every detail was nice.

Jim is like a real father to Brian. When we meet new people, they are usually surprised when Brian starts calling him Jim. Jim took on big responsibilities when he married me. He insisted we were a team when it came to Brian. He has helped Brian mature so much. It's incredible. Jim often tells Brian that he is his hero. Why? He has to endure so much just to do the things other people take for granted (Well, not in those exact words... but you get the meaning.) He is a special man.

This photo was staged by the photographer, but it's so, so cute!

My son Brian was born at 24 weeks gestation. He is still small for his age. But being cute and lovable makes up for it. (Spoken like a true mom, huh? LOL) Brian has cerebral palsy, with high-functioning autism, and after serial casting and extensive physical therapy, he started walking 11 months before this picture was taken. He was a big part of the wedding!

Just as a side note, Botox shots stopped working and the teen years are tough. He's back in his wheelchair quite a bit and we're considering invasive surgery... something I've putting off for a year now.

I just love her card!

To change it up, I used bright colors, a similar layout, a Nestabilitie die cut, and paper instead of ribbon. Not using ribbon was a shocker, but it just didn't work with the die cut.

Stamps: Hope Grows (Gina K Designs - Illustrator is Theresa Momber. I can't get enough of this set! If you're like me, you buy a set, use it a couple of times, and then it is yesterday's news. But this set was a fabulous purchase. I don't think it will be collecting dust anytime soon! :)
